Draft Analysis Plan Rev A
• For strength purposes, run FEM model with fasteners from the Cal Plate to the Grid carrying clamping
forces only. Demonstrate that shear plates can ( not will ) carry all loads with positive margin.
• For modal test predictions, run FEM model and determine modes and frequencies with fasteners from Cal
Plates to Grid carrying clamping forces as well as X and Y shear forces.
• For flight loads and frequency purposes:
1. Run ascent loads cases ( +X+Y-Z, +X-Y-Z, -X+Y-Z, and -X-Y-Z ) with Cal Plate to Grid
fasteners carrying clamping loads as well as shear loads and determine which fasteners would slip
if max friction coefficient were 0.2 .
2. Run MECO load case with Cal Plate to Grid fasteners carrying clamping forces as well as shear
forces and determine which fasteners would slip if max friction coefficient were 0.2 .
3. Survey results of fastener positions which would slip in 1 and 2 above and define a combined set of
fastener positions for which no friction capability will exist for structural analysis predictions. Run
FEM model with no friction capability at these locations and use these results for coupled loads
analysis and for prediction of flight frequencies and internal loads .
