Analyzed runs

Efficiency is trended for runs during EMI/EMC tests @ NRL.
– Run# range analyzed: 77005895-770064200.
– Basic analysis is integrated with SVAC analysis and automatic.
Only runs with duration > 1000 seconds are trended.
– Minimum necessary for efficiency calculation.
– Not intended to catch inefficiency due to EMI/EMC.
– Exercise efficiency trending.
Summary of newly observed anomalies.
– Bay 3 Y6, Bay 5 X14, Bay 5 Y12, Bay 6 Y3, Bay 7 Y16, Bay 8 X11,
Bay 8 X7
• No new disconnected strips.
• Consistently lower efficiencies (2–4%) for all EMI runs.
• No plausible reason for inefficiencies.
– Bay 10, Y6: Noise flare
– Bay 15, X11: First evidence of the inefficiency on adjacent ladder
by noise flare due to high rate of noise flare.
Known anomalies.
– Bay 13, X13: Due to extremely hot strips.

GLAST LAT Project
Bay 3 (FM15) Y6
• Almost all EMI/EMC runs affected.
• Known hot/dead strips
– 757, 758, 1338, 1339
• Many more inefficient region
for no reason.
– Further investigation.

LAT Instrument Analysis Meeting – June 30, 2006
GLAST LAT Project
Bay 10 (FM7) Y6
• Entire ladder shows ~10%
inefficiency due to noise flare.
• No effect on adjacent ladder on
the same GTRC.

GLAST LAT Project
Bay 13 (FM4) X13
• Inefficiency due to known “new”
hot strips, 1141 and 1143.
• New mask xml files released to I&T
about a month ago, but they have
not been incorporated yet.
– Masking hot strips will not help
if preamplifiers are saturated.

Bay 15 (FM11) X11
• Known to flare.
– First evidence that noise flare
affect efficiencies on adjacent
ladder.
