Spanish has no exact equal for to like something. To show
the idea of liking something, use the verb GUSTAR, which
is roughly equal to the English expression to be pleasing.
Since you are pleased by either one or several things,
GUSTAR has only two forms GUSTA [it pleases] and
GUSTAN [they please].
If what someone likes [is pleasing] is singular, use GUSTA.
It what someone likes is plural [are pleasing], use
GUSTAN.
To show that I like something use either me gusta or me gustan.
If I like one thing (one thing pleases me):
I like the book. [the book pleases me].
Me gusta el libro.
I like to play soccer. [playing soccer (to play soccer) pleases
me].
Me gusta jugar fútbol.
If I like more than one thing (more than one thing pleases me):
I like the books. [the books please me]
Me gustan los libros.
If you like one thing (one thing pleases you), use te gusta
you like the book.
te gusta el libro.
you like to play soccer.
te gusta jugar fútbol.
If you like more than one thing, use te gustan
you like the books.
te gustan los libros.
If he/she likes one thing, use le gusta
Ana likes the book.
le gusta el libro
Raúl likes the book.
le gusta el libro.
If he/she likes more than one thing, use le gustan
Ana likes the books.
le gustan los libros.

If we like one thing, use nos gusta
We like the book.
Nos gusta el libro
If we like more than one thing, use nos gustan
