Present tense of regular verbs ending in –ER
The Present tense of regular verbs that end in
ER are formed by dropping the ER infinitive
ending and adding:
-o
-es
-e
-emos
-éis
-en
Compare these endings with the endings for
regular AR verbs:
-o
-amos
-as
-áis
-a
-an
Notice that the difference is simply that
wherever AR verbs have an “a”, the ER verbs
have an “e” !
HABLAR – to talk/to speak

hablan
COMER – to eat
como
comes
come
comemos

comen
LEER – to read
I read - leo
you [tú] read- lees
he/she/it/
you(Ud) read lee

The verb VER (to see) is irregular only in the yo
form:
