In 1597 : as a writer and actor to buy New
Place
In 1610 : retired from New Place
In 1616 : died in Stratford
Works
We usually divided into four kinds :
1. Comedies – fourteen comedies
2. Tragedies – eleven tragedies
3. Histories – nine histories written for the
stage of English kings
4. Poems – sonnets
Shakespeare and Romeo and Juliet

Influence
William Shakespeare’s influence extents
from theatre to literature to the English
languages and vocabulary.
William Shakespeare’s writing also
influence many novelists and poets,
including Herman Melville and Charles
Dickens.
