Broadway Box Office: New Shows Boot Up in
Steady Week
Broadway saw the inklings of the coming fall rush last week, as
previewing musical “Spring Awakening”was joined by Clive Owen in
“Old Times” and Sam Rockwell in “Fool for Love,” both starting
previews as a prelude to the oncoming tide of autumn openings.
Heading into its final week before its Sept. 27 opening, the Deaf West
revival of “Spring Awakening” ($473,074) upticked a bit compared to
its first week on the boards. Meanwhile, Owen’s Broadway debut in the
Roundabout Theater Company’s revival of “Old Times” ($233,302 for
five) started up, playing to houses at 86% of capacity, and Rockwell and
Tony winner Nina Arianda’s return to Broadway, “Fool for Love”
($177,278 for six), brought additional new blood to the boards.
