It all started with a trip to the mall.
Dunlap thought of a solution that could help
most shoppers: A SEARCH ENGINE WHERE
SHOPPERS CAN GO ONLINE TO SEE IF A
PRODUCT IS AVAILABLE AND WHERE IT’S THE
CHEAPEST.
Dunlap wrote his idea on his “idea” logbook.
Partnership with Redpoint ventures allowed him
to launch his ideas.
NearbyNow wasn’t incorporated until after a
feasibility analysis.
Dunlap built a team, raised funding and built
the service.

A shopper searches for the product on the
mall’s website.
Page through listings to find the item you want.
Availability of goods may sometimes be
reflected and reservation may be done.
You’re asked how you’d like to be notified to
make sure product is in stock, either e-mail or
text message. You’ll usually hear back in 10
minutes or so.
If the item is available, you go to the store to
buy the item. If it isn’t available, you may be
given the option to purchase online.

