Bernie:If you follow this path, you’ll get there. Guest1:Can I swim there? Bernie:We advise against it. There are quite a few sharp rocks on the bottom. But if you want to swim, go down stream about half a kilometer. You’ll find a small waterfall with sandy bottom pools. You can sunbathe on the flat rocks there, too. (Guests 2 and 3 approach) Guest2:Excuse me, we’re here for the weekend but someone didn’t make hotel reservation. Guest3:I keep telling you, we can sleep in the car. Bernie:You won’t have to resort to that! There are a few motels in the area. What’s your price range? Guest2:Money’s no object. I’m just interested in getting some R&R this weekend. Anyway, he’s paying. Bernie:The overlook Inn is the best we’ve got. It’s upstream from the falls and each room has panoramic view of the mountains. They’ve got a full service spa, too. Guest3: All right with you?(Guest2 nods.) Do you have their number? Bernie: I can do one better. Here’s their brochure with a discount code. Guest2: (looks at brochure) Second night half off. Call them now! Guest: OK! Thank you. Bernie: Don’t mention it. Part 2 (On the phone) Joan: Good evening. Yellow Tail Restaurant. Joan speaking. Caller: Hello. I’d like to make reservation for two for tomorrow evening at eight o’clock. Joan: I’m sorry, sir. We are booked at eight, but I can seat you at eight forty-five. Caller: That’ll be fine. Can we sit near the back, where the couches are? Joan: Of course, sir. I’ll make a note of your request. Our policy is to hold the table for ten minutes; after that, your table is forfeited. (Joan hangs up phone, greeting arriving guests) Becca: Hi. We have a reservation for there. Joan: And your name, ma’am? Becca: Becca Sieger. Joan: I’m sorry. I don’t see a reservation under Becca Sieger. But I do see one under a Charles Seiger. Becca: Yes, that would be us. Joan: Ah, yes. We’re preparing your table now, Ms Seiger. (listens to headset) Joan: Excuse me, your table is ready. Please, follow me. Have you dined with us before? (both nod) That’s wonderful. This evening Chef Yong has prepared a roast lamb complemented by a risotto, served with a salad dressed in a ginger vinaigrette. Becca: That sounds heavenly. Charles: We’ll need a few minute. We’re waiting for a friend. Joan: Certainly. Your server will be with you in a moment to take your drink orders.
