Malicious Attacks are…
Begins with a piece of code that has been programmed to invade
computers or a computer programs.
Usually their goal is to access information, damage or destroy your system
or network.
Over the past year Malicious Attacks have increased over 10
percent compared to 2008.
Two Main Types…
Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks,
This means that the operator becomes disconnected from a program that is
associated to a network service. It can also sabotage files and programming, but
usually these only waste time and money. For example if you have ever been on a
website and it collapsed completely, it was most likely a DoS attack.
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP),
This type of attack demonstrates taking information through emails and using them
to obtain important information. An example of this is downloading a file that is
infected, this will then infect your own computer. This can also lead to destroyed or
damaged programming and files.
