Tom interned at Integrated Medical Care in the
Summer of 2012.
His job was to locate inactive patient’s files
which were stored throughout hundreds of
boxes by using trial and error.
It was possible for it to take multiple hours to
find one patient’s file because weren’t
organized.





All inactive patient’s files must be held for 7
years since their last visit
Patient’s inactive files were thrown into the
boxes
To find the file, you had to search through each
box.
Very time consuming and unorganized
Need a more organized way to locate patient’s
files when they need medical information




Provide the company with a list of the most
used insurance companies.
Sort which doctors can treat specific injuries,
and show how busy they currently are.
Show the most common types of injuries
treated, to help keep inventory up to date.
Get reports of when files can be discarded
(after 7 years).


The database will increase efficiency, and
increase organization throughout the company.
This database will give IMC a way to locate
files in a matter of minutes rather than hours.

This database gives the company a tool find
which box a patient’s file is located in.
It also provides reports listing which patient is
assigned to which doctor, and tells us which
doctor handles specific injuries.
Integrated Medical Care should improve
efficiency and decrease lag time when locating
patient files.
