Remember: With examples it’s better to keep it simple and
maintain the same format to make sure you’re doing it right.
If you’re providing an example of a dog….
 An example of a dog is Snoopy (TD) because Snoopy has a tail
and floppy ears (CD).
 Make sure you’re identifying what you’re talking about (TD), but
you’re tying the CD directly into a feature of the definition (my
definition is floppy ears and tails).
Take sometime today and review as a group each others
examples.
ANSWERING QUESTIONS & DOING WHAT IS ASKED
 Two sheets with “to-do” verbs or “operator” verbs on the jump drive
you were given. A reminder; it’s under AP Test Specific Guidelines
“Operator Verbs”
 Depending on what verb is used; it can change how you respond to a
question.
 Yeah; some of them are very similar (or the same), that’s okay…at least
you have an understanding more often than not, you’re being asked to
do something specific.
 Identify is the simplest; which is a definition.
 You should be incorporating vocabulary throughout your response
GLOBALIZATION
 Describe Globalization:
 Globalization is a set of processes that are increasing interactions across borders; it is viewed as
“fluidity” across the world. Globalization is about increased interactions because there is more
accessibility to information and ideas. An element of globalization is time-space compression,
meaning that increased technology allows for ideas to spread faster with less influence from friction
of distance. An example of globalization is McDonalds because it is located in multiple countries
thousands of miles apart from one another throughout the world.
 Analyze Globalization
 Globalization is a set of process that are increasing interactions across borders. A positive aspect of
globalization is in interconnections between locations and a higher level of accessibility. However,
globalization has negative aspects associated with it, such as an erosion of local customs and
cultures, and decreasing a sense of place between areas and creating a sense of placelessness.
McDonald’s is an example of placelessness because it is located in almost all locations of the world,
such as the Pyramids at Cairo, making it less unique.
