Major Constraints
 Blue-Bull menace- approximate no.- 213754
 Losses under Gram- up to 25%, Pea- up to 30%, Lentil- up to 26%
The Steps Needed in order to Eliminate Blue bulls
 As per Wild Life Act-1972 Blue Bull is under Schedule-3 Sl. No.-14
Clause-61. Government of India, may change the Act & include Blue
Bull in Schedule-5 of the same Wild Life Act-1972 for their effective

control.
Strategy
 The M.S.P. should be linked with current market price of pulses.
 Promotion of line sowing of Pulses through use of Seed Drill. Seed Drill
district targets should be enhanced.
 Encouraging the balanced use of fertilizers as per soil test.
 Popularization for use of Gypsum and Micronutrients as nutrition supplement
for Sulphur, Zinc, Iron, Copper & Boron.
 Extension of Pulse area during Zaid through intercropping with Sugar
Cane/Cotton.
 Promote intercropping of Urd/Moong with Millets specially in Jowar &
Bajra and kharif Arhar.
 Disease control through cent-percent seed treatment.
 Pest control through use of NPV, P.P. Chemicals.
