ACHIEVEMENTS
1. Awarded Krishi Karman Award for being the best
performing State in wheat during Rabi 2010-11.
2. Awarded Krishi Karman Award for highest
productivity in wheat during Rabi 2011-12.
3. Given Commendation Award for 2012-13 for achieving
consistently high productivity in wheat and rice
cultivation, thereby contributing to National Food
Security.
4. 2nd largest contributor of food-grains to the central
food-grains pool contributing 112.94 Lakh MTs during
2012-13.
5. Haryana was the first and is the only State to implement
100% treatment of certified seed of wheat.

Strategies for improving Wheat Production
FOCUS ON TIMELY SOWING - 80% sowing by 30th November.
 Seed Replacement Rate to be increased to 52 %.
15.25 lakh qtl. certified seed of Wheat available.
PROMOTION OF AREA SPECIFIC VARIETIES
 WH-542, PBW-550, DBW-17, DBW 621-50, HD-2967, HD-2733
and HD-2932 in North-eastern part.
 WH-711, WH-147, UP-2338, Raj-3765 in South-western part.
 HD-2851, PBW-590, WH-1021, PBW-509 in late sown conditions.
OTHER STEPS TO BE INITIATED
 Promotion of Zero Tillage Technology.
 Sowing of wheat to be promoted by HAPPY SEEDER for better straw and weed
management.
 Integrated Weed Management practices being promoted.
 Multi-nozzel Boom usage to be promoted for better coverage of field during spray
for effective weed control.
 Monitoring & management of yellow rust disease.
 Frequent & Light Irrigation to cope-up the rise in temperature during
grain-formation stage.

Management of Yellow Rust
 Strategies formulated in consultation with experts
of CCSHAU and DWR located in the State.
 Awareness campaign launched to educate the
farmers of sensitive area about the Symptoms &
Control measures.
 Promotion of DBW-17, WH-542, HD-2967,
DPW-621-50, HD-2851, PBW-550 & WH-1105
varieties in Susceptible Areas.
 Regular and joint Surveillance of the disease.
 Already provision of funds made under RKVY for
Stocking of Propiconazole 25 EC on 50% subsidy.
Yellow rust Advisory
• One spray of Propiconazole 25EC @ 0.1 per
cent be given at the appearance of infection to
avoid its further spread.
• 200 ml of fungicide mixed with 200 L of water
should be sprayed in one-acre wheat crop.
• If needed, farmers are advised to repeat the
spray.
• Farmers should spray the crop during clear
weather.
