Click “Advanced Search” link
Type Keywords, Model, Item Description
Check “[X] completed listings”
Click the [Search] button
Refine Search using links in the left column

 Create accounts at eBay and Paypal
1. At eBay.com, click the “Register” link
2. Complete and submit the form
3. Eventually you’ll need to provide a credit card
number to pay eBay insertion fees & commissions.

number and /or bank information so you can fund
your PayPal account and transfer balances to your

PayPal.com is owned by eBay.com and is currently the only

 Write a killer item description and title
Hint 1: Emulate descriptions & titles from the
best-selling eBay auctions (use Cut & Paste).
Hint 2: When selling Cameras, Electronics and
some other items, eBay allows you to select a
Brand, Product type, or Model and eBay
automatically adds a description from eBay’s
“Product Catalog.”
Hint 3: Use descriptions from item packaging,
from the manufacturer’s website, or from a
store site such as Amazon.com

Many buyers are VISUAL searchers. They
won’t consider your item if it doesn’t have
a picture. A picture of the actual item
being sold, is best.
Images are important to attract buyers with
iPhones and mobile devices.
Borrowing manufacturer’s pictures is okay.
Borrowing other sellers pictures is not.
Right click almost any picture on a web-page
then select “Save Image As…” To save an
image to your computers.
Picture quality doesn’t have to be perfect only
adequate. Even a 2MB image from an old
camera is “adequate.”

 Research the best time and place to launch
your auction
• Best: Ending Sunday evening, about 9pm EST
• 2nd best: Ending Saturday evening, about 9pm
(as established by 10 years of BidRobot logs)
• Similar to Google search results: Want to get your
eBay listing on “front page” of eBay when the most
potential bidders are surfing at eBay.
• Some exceptions exist: Golf Clubs sell okay on
Friday Afternoon, Children’s clothes sell okay on
weekday mid-mornings.
• Consider “seasonality” You’ll likely have low selling
prices if you sell golf clubs in February or Christmas
items in July.

Item” screens
• Click the “Sell” link at the top of the page.
• Click the “Start Selling” button
• Follow the on-screen prompts: Select a
Category, Create Listing, Review Listing.
• Some product descriptions will be automatically
provided by eBay if you supply a UPC number.
• eBay’s listing fees will be displayed before you
submit your listing.

 Be ready to answer questions from
prospective bidders (by eMail)
• An answered question could mean more bids
and higher ending sale prices.
• “Old Fishing Lure Brings $31,857.50” Original title:
"Old Wooden Bronze/Orange Fishing Lure," but four
days after posting, the bids had reached into the
thousands of dollars, and the seller amended the
auction description to report, "according to the
information we have received, it is a very rare Heddon
wooden lure."

• Buyers send money to your Paypal account via
ebay.
• Do not ship the item until the funds have
cleared your PayPal account.

• Choose UPS or US Postal Service.
• Type package dimensions, weight.
• Choose level of shipping service (ground, media
mail, parcel post, etc).

a pre-paid label with your home computer.
• “Jump the line” at UPS or Post Office

feedback
• Wait a few days until after the auction item has been
received and has been inspected - Post your feedback
