High School
Schedules
Creating opportunities and
meeting standards
What has taken place so far?
1.
2.
3.
4.
A committee made up of teachers, principals,
parents, students and district staff studied various
schedules last school year (2006-2007)
Information meetings were held at Eagle, Meridian,
Centennial, and Mountain View last spring
A recommendation to keep the A/B block at
Mountain View and Meridian and to continue to
study bell schedule options at Eagle High,
Centennial High, and Rocky Mountain was
approved by the Board of Trustees last spring
The committee has continued meeting this school
year
What has to happen next?


Rocky Mountain High will open fall 2008
The committee must recommend a bell
schedule for the opening of Rocky Mountain.
Why consider alternatives to the
current high school schedules?


Increased graduation requirements limit
opportunities to take electives
Multiple schedules exclude many students
from shared programs or students accessing
programs available at other high schools
The new graduation
requirements are in place for:

All students in the 10th grade in the 2007-2008
school year and younger


All students in the 9th grade in the 2007-2008 school
year and younger


Two years of Science and three years of Math (currently 2
years of science and 2 years of math)
Three years of science and three years of math
An additional 2 credits (one year) of Math will be
required for all students in the 8th grade in the 20072008 school year and younger

Three years of Science and four years of math (pending
board approval)
