Note: conjunction- a word used to connect clauses or
sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause (e.g.,
and, but, or).
1. Some deserts were once forests or lakes.

Simple and Compound Sentences
Simple sentence: Made up of a subject and a predicate and
expresses only one complete thought.
Compound sentence: Made up of two closely related
independent clauses. The two clauses can be joined by a
comma and a coordinating conjunction (and, but, or) or by a
semicolon (;)
