Highlight of Current Activities
 Setup “Roadmap” on TTA standards development
and its Deployment to commercial IPTV services
• Establish basic standards for providing Interoperability
on Contents and retail Terminal Device
• Step 1: Middleware (ACAP-J and Web-base), Subtitles, iCAS (interchangeable CAS)
 Published as TTA Standards, Applying date: Oct. 2010
• Step 2: Service Discovery & Selection(SDS), Provider
Selection & Terminal Provisioning, Basic IPTV Terminal
Specification
 Standards Establishment: Sep. 2010, Applying date: Oct. 2010

Highlight of Current Activities
 IPTV Regulation to apply new iCAS standards
• Due date: 1st November 2010
• iCAS: S/W based downloadable CAS specification
• Download and Managing CAS modules in SVM (Secure
Virtual Machine) of the IPTV Terminal Device
• Established “iCAS Consortium” to develop Reference
Implementation
• Debate on the postpone of due date for iCAS standard
 IPTV Trust Authority for iCAS solution
• Considering Certificate System & CP Promotion Issues
Strategic Direction
 Standards development for providing Contents
Interoperability and Terminal Mobility
• OSMU (One Source Multi-Use)
• Accommodation of Retail Terminal for different SPs
 Alignment with Global Standards, especially with
ITU-T IPTV Recommendations
• Adopt other SDO standards if it is required
• Participate in the ITU-T IPTV-GSI and other SDOs
Challenges
 Needs Public Authentication of iCAS solutions to
consume IPTV contents from Hollywood studio, etc.
 Lots of remaining issues to accommodate retail
market Terminal for different SP’s environments
 Needs variety of IPTV Applications
• Promote to develop 3rd Party IPTV Applications over
Open IPTV Platform
 Extends to Open IPTV to consume Internet sourced
Contents over IPTV SP’s infrastructure
• Competition with Connected TV such as Google TV, etc.
Next Steps/Actions
 Continue to develop Standards to provide;
• Remote Management of IPTV Terminals
• Public IPTV services such as Audio Description Service
for visually impaired, etc.
• IPTV over mobile wireless network environments
including WiBro/WiMax and 3GLTE access networks
 Public Authentication of iCAS Implementations
 Collaboration with Global IPTV Standards of ITU-T
and other relevant SDOs
