• First Wallin & Nordstrom opened in 1901 in downtown Seattle • 1923 2 nd store was opened • 1928 John Nordstrom sold his share of the company to his sons 2
Growing Reputation
• Grew to be the largest independent shoe chain store in the United States.
• By 1960 they had 8 stores in Washington and Oregon • The downtown Seattle Store became the largest shoe store in the country • Purchased a Seattle-based clothing store – “Nordstrom Best” 4/30/2020 3
