Refinement of SOIS Reference Architecture
• Major items include:
» Profile for Synchronous/Asynchronous subnetworks (will this have an affect upon
EDS)
» Data Pooling Service
› Location in architecture
› Support for access to same acquired data in both raw and virtual form
» Feedback on Subnetwork Services
› Clarification of service primitives and interaction patterns (this will affect the EDS)
» Consider adding a Data Streaming Service and determine at which layer it should
belong
» Expand between one-to-one virtual and physical devices
› Multiple physical devices to one virtual device
- E.g. power management separate interface to data interface
› Multiple virtual devices provided by one physical device
- E.g. Power management of all devices by a single device or temperature sensors of a star
tracker
• Also (not exhaustive and not yet agreed):
» If the AMS is updated to support all MAL Interaction Patterns, then a coordinated
MTS update will be needed
» Time Access Service from multiple clocks (is this part of time management?)
» File Services support on partitions
• Mechanism is Subnetwork 5 Year Review and APP Pink Sheets

3. Interoperability Testing
• Interoperability Testing Report – Yellow Book
• Look at NASA/JSC defining multiple artificial devices
(ICDs, EDS’s and simulators) that together covering all
EDS XML features
» These are the test cases
» Independence from EDS XML creators and Red Book authors
• Import into 2 EDS Tool chain by and from separate
organisation
» Test EDS are valid
» Generate HTML and analyse to ensure same as original ICDs
» Test auto-generated SOIS against simulated devices
› (may not be required for strict interoperability testing)
