WINE LIST
SPRING 2016
Italian-American heritage draws heavily from the regions of Southern Italy where large
numbers of immigrants left for America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries
and introduced the cuisine of their homeland to cities where they settled. As an ItalianAmerican restaurant, the influences of Southern Italy play a large role at Angeleno and
our wine list pays homage to those traditions.
Our team looks forward to guiding you through the regions of Southern Italy and
introducing you to the varietals found there. For something more familiar, you will also
find offerings from some of our other favorite regions across the wine world. Since
Chef David hails from Los Angeles, you will find a choice selection from the wine
regions of California where founders of some of the most famous wineries trace their
roots back to those same Italian immigrants.
A note about our corkage policy:
We allow a maximum of two, 750ml bottles per table for your enjoyment. Each 750ml
bottle will be charged $75 for corkage and serviced by our experienced wine team. Large
format bottles are charged according to their volume.
We offer a generous one-for-one policy that allows you to enjoy your wine without
corkage when you buy a bottle from us. We are passionate wine lovers ourselves so we
want you to be able to enjoy your favorite bottles at Angeleno, but we are also a small,
family run restaurant and as such, request your understanding. Cheers!

COCKTAILS
22.
THE STREETS OF LOS ANGELES
While the origins of our favorite drink are disputed, the most likely account is that the negroni
was invented in Florence, Italy in 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked the bartender to
strengthen his favorite cocktail, theAmericano, by adding gin rather than the normal soda water.
The rest is history, a history that we are proud to honor through an exploration of negroni
variations named for famous LA streets. Start your meal with a light, aperitivo version and finish
with something more bracing. Although stylistically different, in each variation you will find the
hallmark sweet and bitter components that characterize our favorite tipple.

DRAFT BEER
INNIS & GUNN CRAFT LAGER, SCOTLAND, 330ml
14.
This style of beer was discovered by accident when Innis & Gunn were approached to season oak barrels
with beer for later whiskey aging. When removed from the barrels, the resulting beer was delicious! The
lager displays notes of biscuity malt and vanilla giving it a creamy, mellow taste.
THORNBRIDGE CHIRON AMERICAN PALE ALE, UK, 330ml

CHAMPAGNE
The growers and producers of Champagne and Sparkling Wines we represent is small but their impact is
enormous. We choose to focus on small, artisanal producers who's quality and purity are inspiring. To
single out one is unfair, but you need to look no further than the Mathieu family based in the small town
of Avirey-Lingey in the Aube. Serge handed over the reigns to his daughter Isabelle and her husband
Michel in 1996 and they continue to produce Champagnes that display a balance of both power and
finesse. We have a very special relationship with the Mathieu family and are proud to be the only
restaurant representing their range of amazing Champagnes!

PROVENCE
Chateau d'Esclans, “Whispering Angel”, Côtes de Provence 2014

Sacha Lichine and renowned winemaker Patrick Leon have achieved something rather
unique. The wines here are unlike 'conventional' rosé, being made in a method more
akin to Burgundy, with a certain amount of barrel maturation and lees stirring. The
Whispering Angel has amazing texture and superb balance and concentration.
