their horrendous
punishments here.
Punishments


The magicians,
diviners, and
astrologers are
punished by being
forced to walk with
their heads turned
towards their
backsides.
Their endless tears
fall onto their
buttocks.
Dante’s Pity

Dante grieves for
the sinners at first
for the cruel
punishment, but
Virgil brings him
back to his senses
by describing the
sinners that are
held here.
Amphiarus

A Greek priest that
was swallowed up
by the Earth in a
battle against the
Thebans.
Tiresias



Blind greek prophet.
Was transformed from
a man to a woman,
and then back to a
man.
Was punished in this
circle for being a
prohet.
