Themes Identified for the First Students
• Overall theme: Cooperating Embedded Systems

Status
• All PhD students are up and running
• Kick-off in April 2014 with PhD students, supervisors,
industrial mentors etc.
• First company visit/seminar in May (VTI)
• Establishing a support committee for each PhD student
• For quality assurance
• At least one member outside the research group
• Reference group formed – first meeting in October
• Next company visit planned in december

• EISIGS introductory course (parts of it given):
• Short overview of EIS and its research
• Three 1.5 hp courses (or parts of bigger courses) to
introduce selected research fields within EIS (4.5 hp)
• Spread out over longer time
• Introduction to the innovation track within EISIGS and
the connection between technical development,
innovation, and business development (3 hp)
The Innovation Process
• The role of innovation and the inter-play between
technological R&D and business development
• We want to form future PhDs that understands which
innovations that may become useful and economically
viable
• Innovation and the role as researcher/entrepreneur within
a company is examined
• Innovation as part of the course offerings
• Innovation in the supervision, where special competence is
used
• Innovation coaches (also as help for the supervisors)
• Additional supervisors can be arranged on short/long
term
