Question
Which kind of baseball bat will hit a baseball
farthest… a Combat which is all composite or
an Easton baseball bat which is half
composite half alloy?
Hypothesis
I predict that the Combat will hit the baseball
farther than an Easton baseball bat based on
the fact that it is all composite and I don’t
think weight will be the deciding factor.
Abstract
My project is all about the effectiveness of
baseball bats. The two bats I will test the
effectiveness of are a Combat and an Easton
baseball bat.

Variables
• The Independent Variable: It is the type of
bat.
• The Dependent Variable: It is the amount of
feet the ball travels.
• The Control Variable: It is the number of
baseballs hit, the number of people that use
each bat, the place they hit the ball from, and
the type of measurement used( inches, feet,
yards).

The first step in my experiment was to gather all of my
materials.
Then I got each test subject to hit 3 baseballs off of a
tee with the Combat first.
Then after I had measured the length of each hit, the
test subject would switch bats and hit 3 baseballs with
the Easton.
After each hit I would measure the length the ball
traveled just like before.
Then the next test subject would do the same thing as
the person before them.

Results
I claim that the half and half Easton bat hits
the ball farther than the all composite
Combat. Evidence shows that this is true
because the half and half bat is lighter and
will flex more than the all composite bat.
Conclusion
My hypothesis is incorrect. The lighter half composite
half alloy bat hit the ball farther than a one ounce all
composite bat. Even though the Combat has a bigger
sweet spot and is all composite the half and half Easton
bat which was lighter proved to hit the ball farther with
most people. In conclusion the Easton baseball bat hit
the ball farther because it is lighter and even though it
is not all composite it still has a little bit of composite in
it. Also the 2 piece bat flexes creating a whip like affect
when it hits the baseball.
Application
You would need to know if an all composite
bat hits a baseball farther than a half and half
bat because if you are playing travel baseball
and need to know which bat hits a ball
farther this helps you decide.
