Mum – Antjie Krog
Ma, ek skryf vir jou ‘n gedig
Sonder fensie leestekens
Sonder woorde wat rym
Sonder bywoorde
Net sommer
‘n kaalvoet gedig
Want jy maak my groot
In jou krom klein handjies
Jy beitel my met jou swart oë
En spits woorde
Jy draai jou leiklipkop
Jy lag en breek my tente op
Maar jy offer my elke aand
Vir jou Here God
Jou moesie-oor is my enigste
Telefoon
Jou huis my enigste bybel
Jou naam my breekwater
Teen die lewe
Ek is so jammer mamma
Dat ek nie is
Wat ek graag vir jou wil wees nie
Mum, I’m writing you a poem
Without fancy punctuation
Without words that rhyme
Without adverbs
Just
A barefoot poem
Because you raise me
In your small crooked hands
You chisel me with your black eyes
And pointy words
You turn away your slate head
You laugh and rip my tents up
But every night you entrust me
To your Lord God
Your mole ear is my only
Telephone
Your house my only bible
Your name my bulwark
Against life
I am so sorry mum
That I am not
What I would like to be for you

डगमग चलते, नाचा करते
खुश रहते हे र दम|

So big is our earth, So small we are
Man, animal, fish and Insects all live here.
On the earth, beneath the earth
While some above the earth.
All have life and all are equal
No one is less.
So big is our earth, So small we are
The colourful insects and birds
flying high in the sky.
Though peck only two grains,
but sings sweet and long songs for us.
Quivering and walking and dancing
happy all the times.
So big is our earth, So small we are
The grass and the little plants
and trees also to protect our life.
Bread, lentils, fruits and vegetables
are the sources of our joy and happiness.
Till we have the earth with greenery,
Healthy life we will lead.
So big is our earth, So small we are

Cavalls a l’alba
Horses at daybreak
Lliures cavalls, a l’alba,
per la deserta platja.
Veus i tambors proclamen
la primavera.
Free horses, at daybreak,
on the deserted beach.
Voices and drums proclaim
the spring.
Després, fet nou silenci
damunt el mar, les hores
encadenades besen
la sorra molla.
Then, silence again
over the sea, the hours
chain kiss
the wet sand.
