Absolute dating (chronometric or calendar dating )
-process of determining a specific date for
an archaeological site or artifact
Radiometric dating - technique used to
date materials based on knowledge of the
decay rates of naturally occurring isotopes,
and the current abundances.
The half-life of a quantity subject to
exponential decay is the time required for
the quantity to decay to half of its initial
value.
