Description
 Students in LISD may earn a Distinguished
Achievement Seal to be affixed to his/her transcript
by completing the state’s DAP requirements
 Students must meet course requirements set by the
state and earn four advanced measures

there also is a DAP Campus Committee. In addition, all counselors are
completely aware of all the requirements of this program.

 For Class of 2005 and thereafter
– Electives (2.5) may be chosen from
state approved list
 There are current changes underway
at the State Board of Education and
will be announced in July, 2004. This
information will be updated at that

explains all the graduation programs and requirements.

Test Data
 A score on the PSAT that qualifies him/her for
recognition as a Commended Scholar or higher by the
National Merit Scholarship Corporation
 A score on the PSAT that qualifies him/her for
recognition as a National Hispanic Scholar Program of
the College Board
 A score on the PSAT that qualifies him/her for
recognition as an Outstanding Negro Student of the
National Merit Scholarship Corporation
 A score of 3 or higher on any AP Exam
FOR MORE INFO...
LISD counselors are responsible for disseminating information about SAT
and ACT tests. Scores from PSAT are reported to schools and students.
Registrations for AP tests are taken care of at each campus.

College Courses
 Concurrent Enrollment
– Students attend a college/university while still
in high school
 Dual Credit Program
– Students register for a college class and receive
credit for graduation requirements from high
school
 Tech Prep Program
- Students take a high school course that is
articulated with the Tech Prep Program

Concurrent Enrollment
 Students must be eligible to take college
courses
– With new TAKS requirements, these are still
pending
– meet college entrance requirements (THEA,
SAT, ACT, required GPA)
– be enrolled in a minimum of two (2) courses
per semester for high school credit if enrolled
in fall or spring semester

Concurrent Enrollment (cont’d)
 Students may earn up to four (4) measures
– Must receive a grade of B or better in each
course
– May enroll as early as the summer after the
junior year (exit level TAKS)
– Should be prepared to pay for tuition and
books and have transportation
– May take as many college courses as desired
but only 4 will count as measures

Dual Credit Program
 Dual Credit Program allows a high school
student to take courses at a
college/university and receive high school
credit for the course IF STUDENT
RECEIVES A GRADE OF C OR BETTER.
 IF a student receives a grade of B or better
on a dual credit course, the student will
EARN AN ADVANCED MEASURE.

Original Research/Project
 Students may earn one advanced measure per original
research/project.
– Maximum of 2 projects
 Students must sign up for a TEKS approved course
– Principals at each campus may allow exceptions
 Students must follow Original Research/Project
District Guide
– A mentor will be assigned to each student during
the duration of the project
 Students must present product or performance to an
outside panel of judges.
– DAP District Committee will make the
arrangements for all presentations.
