• Please sign the attendance form.
• Written essays will be administered
at the end of the orientation.
• Oral interviews will be held at the
end of the orientation.
Admission Requirements
 Must be a Junior
 Must have a minimum of 90 units
completed
 Must have a GPA of 2.67 or higher to be
admitted to the credential program
Early Field Experience- EDEL 240 or equivalent
 A GPA of 3.00 must be maintained in all credential courses
 Fingerprint Process
You must show proof that you have processed Live Scan
and Character and Identification Form
OR
Provide a copy of your Certificate of Clearance, Substitute
Permit, or Emergency Permit
Admission Requirements cont.
 TB Clearance- Candidates must have a valid
clearance not over 4 years old.
 California Basic Educational Skills Test
(CBEST)- Candidates must have already taken
CBEST. Provide scores of pass or fail.
Candidates must pass CBEST before full day
student teaching.

to complete a Program Plan of Study
• Designed to fit your needs
• Bring Educational Study Plan from
Liberal Studies office to advising
appointment with Kristina.

Student Teaching
• Cooperative Effort- CSUB and local school
districts
• Placement Request
Candidates must submit a student teaching
placement form (available in the Credentials
office) during the 5th week of the quarter
prior to student teaching.
• Credential File
– Candidates must have the following items in order
to be placed for student teaching:
• verification of fingerprint clearance.
• passage of California Subject Examination for
Teachers (CSET) is required before full day student
teaching
• Passage of the CBEST is required before full day
student teaching
• copy of a valid TB clearance
• Program plan/advising form completed on file

How to apply for your
preliminary credential
• During Stage 3 student teaching, a
credential application packet will be
mailed to you during finals week.
• Students complete the application
and return it with fees to CSUB
credentials office.
• The application is reviewed and the
candidate is recommended by a
Credential Analyst.
