High intake of Protein:
– Heart disease
– Kidney disease
– Obesity
Low intake of Carbohydrates:
– Help prevent high cholesterol and colon cancer
– Needed to fuel many of the body’s function
– Major source of energy for the body

According to the Atkins Diet the
subjects should experience weight
loss.

“The Atkins diet is by far one of, if
not the most popular fad diets ever
invented. With more than six million
copies sold, Dr. Atkins' New Diet
Revolution is still making history with
a controversial way of dieting
(Leonard 2004).”

foods which are high in protein, while
limiting foods which are high in
carbohydrates (Leonard 2004).”
Overall the low carbohydrate, high
protein diet is very unhealthy.
Objective and Hypothesis
Statements
Objective Statement:
– To determine if the low carbohydrate, high
protein diet has an influence on weight loss.
Hypothesis:
– A high protein, low carbohydrate diet will
weight loss.
Null Hypothesis:
– A high protein, low carbohydrate diet will not
effect weight loss.
Methods and Materials
Materials:
– 4 test subjects
– High protein foods
– Low carbohydrate foods
– Floor scale
– Weight loss chart

Methods
– Subjects are separated into 2 pairs.
– There is 1 control group, consisting of 2
subjects and 1 experimental group,
consisting of 2 subjects.
– The subjects weight is taken using the
floor scale.
– Each subject will be weighed weekly, on
the same day.

subject will have their average weight
calculated and the total amount of
weight lost or gained calculated.

Expected Results:
There should be a difference between the
two groups, with the experimental group,
