capacity to support more bandwidth intensive

National State Networking Efforts




Currently serving as Co-chair of StateNets
Lobbying efforts led to the creation of a new
category of membership in Internet2 for State
and Regional networks
Acknowledges the importance of StateNets in
controlling the “last mile” to the R&E community
Will gain 12 governance seats on the Internet2
BoT and various advisory councils

NJ Digital Video Initiative



Growing importance of on-demand video in
online education is now widely recognized
VALE, the NJ Digital Highway and Library
consortia have identified the need to provide
video resources and services statewide as an
important strategic initiative
William Paterson (VALE), Rutgers Libraries, and
NJEDge are partnering on an IMLS Grant to
provide funding for such an initiative


The portal repository will support:

“Lectures-on-Demand” with a clickable “table of
contents” for K-20 educators
Licensed commercial academic videos from
companies such as Films Media Group
Locally owned and developed academic video
Videos searchable through metadata tags
VoDcasting and Podcasting delivery options
Statewide authentication and authorization
