allusions to the idea of the eternal child that never abandons our soul. Though for many of us
the flame of our youth loses some of its intensity with every hardening experience we face in
adulthood, it is never completely extinguished. No matter how old and decrepit we may become,
our youthful core remains untouched and there will always be moments capable of transporting
us back in time and allowing us to undergo a complete metamorphosis into the youthful being
we once were. There could not be a better explanation of this curious concept than that
provided by the genius of Milan Kundera in the opening lines of his "Immortality":
