David H.: Humor and history are two of my favorite subjects. James Ellroy's Dick Contino story
is full of laughs. Ellroy goes nuts with alliteration in this and other tales. There are plenty of
insults for everybody (Blacks, Jews, Latinos, etc) but this book is sooo much fun. I got to meet
Ellroy and take a photo with him. Real nut. One of my favorite writers.

sideways to share with us a few glamorous, grotesque postcards. Perfectly lit nightmares; the

Klein, and Buzz Meeks shines at the center of "Since I Don't Have You." I love Ellroy's rich,
compact descriptions and his delirious plotting. For me, the guy can do no wrong. I'm looking
forward to reading these stories again.
