Laetitia: It was better than I thought, this book. The book is quite well-known in the Netherlands
because of the fact that it was quite shocking when it came out; the descriptions of sex are
pretty explicit, the language is sometimes kind of vulgar, and Wolkers isn't afraid of describing
some pretty nasty things. But I think all of these things make the subject what the story is really
about - an unhappy love - even more vulnerable and moving. The book contains some romantic
and tender parts (like kissing and drinking wine in the rain, outside, on the sidewalk), and the
end is tragic - very well displayed in the thoughts and feelings of the protagonist.
Twan van Elk: Wolkers beschrijft, in recht-voor-zijn-raap taal, de herinneringen van zijn verteller
aan diens grote liefde Olga. Het verhaal kabbelt al herinneringen ophalend door, totdat het
enigszins plotseling, weinig spectaculair en zonder grote overwegingen eindigt.
Voor mijn gevoel blijft het boek een beetje steken in dat beschrijvende. Er wordt voor mijn
gevoel meer vertèld over de passie en de liefde tussen de twee hoofdpersonen, dan dat ik die
passie en liefde als het ware aan kon voelen.
Al met al een aardig, vlot geschreven verhaal, met hier en daar redelijk expliciete scenes en
taalgebruik.
Uleto: Had to read this for school. So it couldn't possibly be a good book I would've picked up
naturally. Luckily it was not a very thick book.

Niko: Mijn Nederlands is niet zo goed en "Turks Fruit" zal wel het eerste boek zijn geweest dat
ik in deze taal heb gelezen. Ook als ik meschien maar drie derde van de woorden kon verstaan,
snapte ik het tog allemal. Het is en geweldig en opwindend boek en het is geschreven als of in
een enkele dag, uit een vers en puur gevoel. Wolkers schrijvt het web zo eerlijk als of ie het
alleen maar voor zichself zou schrijven, en dat is iets raars en biezonders. Er lijkt geen moreel
of les in te zitten; het is een record van het feit, dat er soms andere krachten aan het werk zijn
in een relatie, en dat je er aan magazine vasthouden, en het niet mis is om erover
doodverdrietig te zijn, wish het is allemal ook doodverdrietig, en het is een kort leven.
Sanne: Een klassieker over de liefde, het leven en de dood die ik gek genoeg nog niet gelezen
had. Heeft nog niets van zijn vertelkracht verloren.
