Why is it changing?

The current curriculum is now 14 years old and
the Government believe that it is out of date and is
no longer satisfactory.
What is new?

Writing
•Use and understanding of grammar.
•Use and understanding of technical terms.
•Spelling test – now worth 20 marks instead of 7.
•Joined, legible and formed correctly.
•A move away from word processing.
•No test.
•Level given must be reflected across several
pieces of work.

•Practise ‘good grammar’.
•Can’t write in sentences if you don’t speak in sentences.
•Quiet place to write – table.
•No background noise.
•Equipment – paper, pens, pencils, dictionary.
•Thank you letters, diaries, shopping lists etc.
•Model writing.
•Regularly – for enjoyment as well as school books.
