Now a traditional feature of Advent in Graz, awaited with great excitement every year: the ice nativity scene in the Landhaus courtyard.
Ice sculpture, light and the courtyard’s beautiful surroundings come
together with breathtaking effect, creating a magical atmosphere that

Right in front of the town hall, a little village is created where we can feel
warm and comfortable. Traditional handicraft and all sorts of delights for
body and soul will warm visitors’ hearts. The “Engelsspiel” pavilion offers
space for events and shows, sugar-flamed “Feuerzangenbowle” punch
warms the cockles of your heart and the carousel is fantastic fun for kids.

At the much-loved arts and crafts market at Mehlplatz, once again the
Advent huts are certainly a highlight with their distinctive design. During
the day, they open up to reveal what’s inside them; at night, they shine like
gleaming crystals. Alongside exquisite arts and crafts, delightful treats are
on sale here. Every Saturday: live music. Every Sunday: kid’s day.
Quando a Graz nel periodo prenatalizio comincia a fare veramente freddo,
a noi piace stringerci attorno agli amici. Per l’occasione, di fronte al municipio,
è stato creato un villaggio che ci riscalda e ci protegge e dove trovare artigianato tradizionale e leccornie di ogni genere. Il gazebo al centro è il luogo per
manifestazioni e spettacoli di ogni tipo e il ”Feuerzangenbowle“ ci riscalda i
sensi mentre la giostrina rallegra i bambini. Ogni domenica: giornata speciale
bambini.
Il clou del popolare mercatino dell’artigianato della Mehlplatz è sicuramente
rappresentato dal design stesso degli stand. Di giorno, schiusi, mostrano il loro
contenuto, mentre di notte brillano come se fossero cristalli. Artigianato raffinato, delizie per la gola, musica dal vivo ogni sabato e di domenica giornata
speciale.

All together for a good cause – the Advent stalls at Eisernes Tor. Christmas
shoppers meet up here to enjoy mulled wine, mulled cider, hot fruit punch or
an alcohol-free hot drink accompanied by delicious snacks. These stalls are run
by charitable organisations, so all profits go towards a range of aid projects.
Gli stand della Eisernen Tor sono gestiti da istituzioni benefiche il cui ricavato
sarà devoluto in favore di progetti umanitari. Incontrarsi qui con gli amici per
un vin brulé, un sidro caldo, un punch ai frutti di bosco o altre bevande calde
analcoliche è per una buona causa, anche per l’offerta di ottimi spuntini…

This year too, the Christmas market at Glockenspielplatz revels entirely in
“Styria” as its theme. Styrian vintners serve best quality wines, hot, sweet
cider as well as home-made mulled wine, punch and delicious sugarflamed “Feuerzangenbowle” punch. In addition to the seasonal musical
accompaniment, the Christmas market on Glockenspielplatz also offers
beautiful Styrian handicrafts. What’s more, every Monday a vendor and his
products will be specially presented.
Anche quest’anno il mercatino di Natale alla Glockenspielplatz è dedicato alla
Stiria: i viticoltori stiriani offrono i vini migliori, i mosti fruttati, il brulé preparato in casa, punch e il delizioso vin brulé al rum, il “Feuerzangenbowle”.
Oltre al divertimento musicale, questo mercatino mette in mostra il meglio
dell’artigianato stiriano e ogni lunedì verrà presentato al pubblico uno stand
diverso e i suoi prodotti.

Silver and wood-crafted art works, as well as pottery and items from countries afar such as frankincense, myrrh and incense sticks for moments of
contemplation, all await you. Add to this woollen textiles from Peru for long
cold winter days and the occasional curiosity that enchants or amazes. The
colourful variety of objects in this very special Advent market is further
augmented at the weekends by live performances.
This is the oldest Christmas market in town with a focus on rural traditions.
Handicraft, typical Christmas tree decorations, tin toys as well as farm-produced specialities from the Styrian regions of delights will attract your attention. Punch, mulled wine and mulled cider provide heart-warming cheer..
Bellissimi lavori in argento, in creta e in legno ma anche incenso puro, mirra
e incensi profumati per i momenti di riflessione o meditazione. Inoltre, calda
lana del Perù per le lunghe e fredde giornate invernali, molte curiosità e stupore. La varietà di questo mercatino veramente unico nel suo genere viene
arricchito il fine settimana da interessanti esibizioni e spettacoli artistici.
Questo mercatino di Natale è il più antico della città e nella sua atmosfera nostalgica fatta di tradizioni rurali trovano posto artigianato artistico, addobbi natalizi
tipici della Turingia, giocattoli di latta e prodotti che provengono dalle Regioni del
Gusto della Stiria. Non mancano di certo il punch, il vin brulé e il sidro caldo.

This market offers a very special pre-Christmas experience somewhere between a traditional and “pop-up” market. In the course of the year, a total
of 45 local and international craftspeople and designers offer their unique
hand-made creations. Music, readings, a children’s programme, culinary
specialities, customs, traditions, and quiet spots invite you to linger.
Il mercatino dell’artigianato artistico alla Färberplatz è un mondo a sé fatto
di tradizioni e di "Pop-Up". 45 tra artigiani e designer locali ed internazionali
presentano a turno i loro manufatti, veri pezzi unici o in serie limitata. Vi attendono musica, letture, programmi per i bambini, specialità gastronomiche,
usi e costumi tradizionali, angoli per conversare.

At the children’s Christmas market in Kleine Neutorgasse, right in front of
the Franciscan church, children’s eyes light up at the sight of a carousel, a
nostalgic big wheel and all manner of sweets, which help make time fly for
those eagerly awaiting Christmas.
Every Wednesday it’s “1 euro day”: reduced fares, a huge snowman, nostalgic big wheel, children’s carousel, fairy tale train, duck game and a stall
offering candyfloss. The stalls offer children’s punch as well as the traditional
“Schaumbecher” dessert, all for 1 euro.
Davanti alla chiesa dei francescani c’è un mercatino di Natale piccolo e raccolto
dove i bambini spalancano gli occhi davanti alla giostrina, alla ruota panoramica e
a leccornie di ogni tipo che rendono più piacevole l’attesa del Bambin Gesù.
E ogni mercoledì vi attende “la giornata da 1 Euro“: Tariffe ridotte nel Kinderparadies davanti alla chiesa con il grande pupazzo delle nevi, la ruota panoramica,
la giostrina, il trenino delle favole, il gioco dell’anatra, lo zucchero filato. Punch
analcolico per bambini e coni di panna per solo € 1,00.

After 33 years at Färberplatz, members of the Styrian “Initiative Kunsthandwerk” handicraft organisation (STIKH) offer for the first time their most
recent products in a new setting. The “Leslie- und Lesehof” courtyard in the
Joanneum Quarter is sure to enchant with exquisite ideas for presents from
the artists’ studios and workshops. Every day at 3:30 pm: traditional puppet
show in a colourful booth painted by professor Toni Schimek.
Dopo 33 anni di presenza alla Färberplatz, la Cooperativa Stiriana Artigianato
(STIKH) allestiscono ora gli stand in un ambiente tutto nuovo: I cortili del Lesliehof e del Lesehof del Joanneumsviertel vi danno l’appuntamento con la magia del
Natale con idee regalo straordinarie che provengono dai laboratori degli artisti
presenti. Da non perdere è il teatro dei burattini disegnato dal Prof. Toni Schimek
tutti i giorni alle ore 15.30.

On all four weekends before Christmas, above the roofs of Graz, you will
find culinary products and beautiful handicrafts from Styria, a newly created
themed area for children at the Garrison Museum offering a range of activities such as making angels and baking Christmas cookies, and much more.
A programme featuring traditional music provides a festive atmosphere and
torch-lit walks make for serene and unforgettable moments.
This year too, there will be a Christmas market featuring handicraft and punch
stalls in Paradeishof. Every Mon & Wed, from 7 pm: live concerts unplugged.
Every Fri & Sat, from 7 pm: DJs (funk, soul & Christmas songs). “Giant” wish
tree: make a wish, write it on a piece of paper and tag it onto our wish tree. The
most “imaginative” wish will be fulfilled shortly before Christmas Eve.
Nel corso dei 4 fine settimana dell’Avvento, sopra i tetti di Graz troverete specialità da gustare e un bellissimo artigianato stiriano da ammirare.
Il museo della guarnigione ospita il nuovo allestimento dello spazio bambini
con il laboratorio degli angeli, un forno per i biscottini e molto più. Inoltre, il
suggestivo programma musicale legato alle tradizioni e le camminate con le
fiaccole sono momenti romantici e indimenticabili.
Anche per quest’anno nel Paradeishof verrà allestito il mercatino di Natale con
bancarelle di artigianato e di punch: Ogni lun e mer, dalle 19.00: concerto dal
vivo unplugged. Ogni ven e sab, dalle 19.00: DJ (Funk, Soul e melodie natalizie). „Il gigantesco albero dei desideri“ vieni ad appendere la tua letterina dei
desideri. Il più originale verrà esaudito alla vigilia.

into WonderLEND, an alternative to the prevailing hustle and bustle elsewhere. We will decorate ginger bread and Christmas trees together and you

The nativity trail starts at the ice nativity scene in the Landhaus courtyard and
leads through Stempfergasse to the Diocese Museum Graz (Bürgergasse 2).
In the shop windows in Stempfergasse, you can admire old and new nativity
sets and read contemplative texts that further add to the serene ambience.
Un suggestivo sentiero che dal presepe di ghiaccio nel Landhaushof percorre
tutta la Stempfergasse e termina alla mostra di Natale del Museo diocesano di
Graz (Bürgergasse 2). Le vetrine dei negozi della Stempfergasse sono decorati
con presepi di diversi stili accompagnati da testi e pensieri significativi.

Advent is the time of the year when we long for companionship, doing handicrafts and singing together. The “Steirisches Volksliedwerk” Styrian centre
for folk music offers the appropriate support for parents: on four Fridays in
Advent, from 3 pm to 4:30 pm and from 4:30 pm to 6 pm, both young and
old can spend the afternoons together being creative and singing Christmas
carols at the Stadtpfarrhof in Herrengasse on the ground floor.
Singing Christmas carols together and reading stories and poetry about
Advent are a natural part of the Christmas season. The Office for Christmas
carols is a unique service point that has been run by the “Steirisches Volksliedwerk” [Styrian centre for folk music] since 1991. Drawing on its extensive
library, it provides all those interested with tunes and texts, both international and from the Alpine region, and offers a “song search engine” too.

sue poesie? Dal 1991, lo Steirische Volksliedwerk apre uno spazio dedicato al
periodo natalizio, chiamato „Büro für Weihnachtslieder - Archivio per le melodie natalizie“, che offre testi e partiture della regione alpina ma anche di tutto

This year, the Christmas tree in Hauptplatz main square was donated by
the Stainz municipality, Mayor OSR Dir. Walter Eichmann. Once again this
year it is a mighty spruce around 40 metres high. The tree grew on Rosenkogel mountain in the Klugbauer managed forest, operated by the Erzherzog Johann Schule, an academy of agriculture and forestry.
Also this year staff of Energie Graz will decorate the Christmas tree with
over 25,000 lights, ensuring cheerful, warm illumination. We offer a heartfelt “thank you”. Our thanks are due also to the fire service of the city of
Graz and the Holding Graz Services team for the active support they provide every year with putting up the Christmas tree and hanging the lights.
Quest’anno, l’albero di Natale alla Hauptplatz è un dono del Comune di
Stainz e del sindaco Walter Eichmann. Un grande abete rosso di 40 metri circa
proveniente dal Rosenkogel,esattamente dall’azienda forestale Klugbauer, gestita dall‘Istituto professionale agrario e forestale Erzherzog Johann.
Ritornano i collaboratori di Energie Graz che addobbano l’albero con
