Activity 3 – The Guessing Game
The purpose of this PowerPoint is to demonstrate the
effective way of teaching The Guessing Game.
There have been demonstrations of this activity that
fall short of its intent and by following this procedure
you will experience greater success in the classroom.
The objective of this activity is to demonstrate that
taking risks may not only affect the person making the
decision but those around them as well.

Yellow, Blue and Green team had correct answer
Red team had incorrect answer. Even though they risked and
lost all of their points they will still continue in the game and will
choose how many points to risk. They may risk up to, but no
more than 50.

Red has the correct answer
Score keeper totals the scores.
(If Red at zero had continued to loose points they would continue with a
negative total score. All teams continue to play, even with a negative score.
Correct answers would add points to a negative score, possibly increasing
their score to the positive.)

Continue until all students have been
called upon to answer a question.
•Based on this example of the Guessing Game
the DARE Instructor will ask a minimum of six of
the questions so all students have a chance to
answer and risk points for their team.
•Depending on the amount of time the instructor
has in the classroom will determine how many
questions they have time to ask.
•Instructor must complete all questions by using
the PowerPoint, or giving the correct answer.
•Remember this activity is used to illustrate the
concept of risk and how one person may take a
risk that can effect others (consequences).
