2nd INTERNATIONAL VIOLIN COMPETITION

Rule
The ICAMS and the Province of Cosenza organize the 2nd International Violin Competition
“Camillo Sivori” reserved for violinists of any nationality and no age limit.
Article 1- Admission
Admission will be decided by the Artistic Director, after verifying the validity of the documentation
presented. Candidates linked to the members of the jury by kinship can not be admitted to the
competition. During the first meeting, in accordance with current regulations, each member of the
Jury must sign a statement about his own situation in relation to competitors.
Each applicant, by signing the application form, agrees to accept by this Regulation.
Article 2 – Program
1st Round (Total performance must not exceed 20 minutes):
The first two movements from one of the 3 Sonatas (BWV
1001, 1003, 1005) or the movements from one of the following Partitas for violin
of J.S. Bach:
- Partita I (BWV 1002): Allemanda e Sarabande
- Partita II (BWV 1004): Ciaccona
- Partita III (BWV 1006): Preludio e Loure
One virtuoso piece freely chosen by the competitor
Final Round:
One of the following concerts, chosen by the candidate:
L. van Beethoven: - Concerto in Re magg. Op. 61
- N. Paganini: - Concerto n. 2 o n. 4
- F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: - Concerto in Mi min. Op. 64
- M. Bruch: - Concerto in Sol min. Op. 26
- P. I. Ciaikowski: - Concerto in Re magg. Op. 35
- H. Wieniawski: - Concerto in Re min. n. 2
- J. Sibelius: - Concerto in Re min. op 47
- C. Saint-Saëns: Concerto n° 3 Op. 61
- J. Brahms: - Concerto in Re magg. Op. 77
- S. Prokofiev: - Concerto in Sol min. n. 2

Article 3 – Auditions calendar and location
The competition will take place in the Auditorium "Guarasci" of Cosenza, Piazza XV Marzo, May
10-11, 2014.
The draw to determine the order of execution will be carried out by the Artistic Director before of
the round, between the competitors present.
Article 4 – Time and competition roll-call
On May 10 the competitors have to be in the Auditorium Guarasci at 9:00 a.m. with an identity card
and a photocopy of the chosen compositions.
Article 5 – The Jury
Jury is composed by:

M° Eugenio Prete
The Artistic Director of the competition, if necessary, and for compelling reasons, will motivate, to
the replacement of one or more members of the jury. The Jury's decisions will be final and
unappealable.
Article 6 – Pianist of the competition
Competitors may be accompanied by a pianist of their choice or by the pianist of the competition,
M° Maria Rosaria Luchetta, sending in that case the scores together with the application form by
order mail or e-mail to adding another 30 euro to entry fee. The rehearsal with the pianist of the
competition will take place on May 9 and on May 10 in the morning, at the Auditorium "Guarasci"
of Cosenza, Piazza XV Marzo, at a time to be agreed with the secretarial office of the competition.
Article 7 – Prizes
1st Prize: € 1000, diploma and cup.
Special prize "Camillo Sivori": € 300 and medal.
The finalists will win also the following concerts for the concert season 2013/2014:
Recital for Association Quintieri - Cosenza
Recital for ICAMS Association - Auditorium "Guarasci" Cosenza
Recital for the Association "A. Vivaldi "- Concert hall" A. Vivaldi "Sapri
Recital for UNICAL – Centro Arte Musica e Spettacolo
The prizes will be paid by bank transfer.
Article 8 – The winners
The allocation of prizes is subject to the participation of the winners at the gala Concert on May 11,
2014
Article 9 – Application
The application form must be accompanied by:
• Photocopy of identity document (for minors, self-certification signed by a parent)
• Musical Program
• Curriculum
• Application fee
• The personal data, e-mail address and telephone number
The registration form can be downloaded from websites www.icams.it, www.concorsoluciani.it.
Application form must be sent no later than April 21, 2014 by registered letter or by mail

Article 10 – Final rules, Privacy
The Artistic Direction reserves the right to make any amendments to this Regulation, where they
may be necessary to force majeure. The personal data will be processed in accordance with
Legislative Decree 196/2003 on the protection of privacy.
