MANDRAROSSA
Mandrarossa is the clear and genuine
expression of Sicily’s new face in wine
growing. Its vineyards lie along the southern
coast of the island, in Menfi, a unique and
pristine land particularly well-suited to
wine growing thanks to the special light
and temperature conditions and to the
sea breezes. The great variety of the area,
formed by many small hills overlooking
the sea, creates a variety of elevations,
slopes, aspects and types of soil, which
are ideal for each cultivar, allowing for
intense experimentation in the vineyard
and increasingly higher levels of quality.
Thanks to these experimental activities,
Mandrarossa grows here Sicily’s widest
range of cultivars, both autochthonous
and international, many of which are
absolutely unique and new. This has led
to the creation of a line of monovarietal
wines, which is Sicily’s most complete, as
well as of the line of Territoriali wines and
Crus, either monovarietal or in blend, which
fully express the area’s potential in terms of
quality and innovation.

VARIETIES MAP
Mandrarossa grows Sicily’s most typical
grape varieties, i.e., Grillo, Grecanico and
Nero d’Avola, along the coast with its sandy
dunes, from which they take the name of
Costadune. The foreign grape varieties
yield our Fiano Ciaca Bianca, grown on
calcareous soils; Viognier Le Senie, near
springs of water; Chardonnay Laguna Secca,
on dry soils rich in humus; Syrah Desertico,
on sandy soils; Cabernet Sauvignon Serra
Brada, which adapts well to rough terrain,
and finally Merlot Rupenera, on dark, clayey
soils.

territorials AND cru
Our Territorials wines are grown in districts
that are particularly suited to the growing
of specific cultivars. An intense Sauvignon
Blanc is grown in Urra di Mare, while
Sant’Annella is well-suited for Fiano and
Chenin Blanc. Bonera is where Nero d’Avola
and Cabernet Franc are grown, while
Timperosse yields a great Petit Verdot.
Contrada Cavadiserpe is where Merlot
and Alicante Bouschet come together. The
Lagano Vineyard is where the finest Fiano
is grown, while the Cinquanta vineyard
gives us a great Syrah. Finally, the area’s
three best Nero d’Avola vineyards yield
Cartagho, an impressive classic red wine.

VARIETIES MAP
The great agricultural tradition of the Menfi area
is expressed not only in wine growing, but also
in olive growing. Here, olive growing reaches the
highest levels of excellence, as certified by the
Val di Mazara Denomination of Protected Origin
mark. Mandrarossa is the clear and genuine
expression of this area, and, in addition to its
wines, it offers a complete range of olive oils.
Three indigenous cultivars are grown Nocellara,
Biancolilla, and Cerasuola which are used to
make five different oils, either monovarietal or in
blend, all of the highest quality, yet each with its
own specific features and pairings. Monovarietal
Nocellara Lolio, with its strong character,
lends itself to pairings with meat and cooked
vegetables. Monovarietal Biancolilla Lolio, with
its delicate flavor, is ideal for fish dishes and
salads. Lolio Dop Val di Mazara is balanced and
pleasant; thanks to its smooth taste, it lends itself
to a wide variety of pairings. Lolio Le Tufare is a
DPO selection to be tasted raw or to enhance the
finest dishes. Lolio Blend is an oil with a versatile
flavor, perfect for consumers seeking quality.
