Stefano Benni

was born in Bologna in 1947. Journalist, writer and poet, he currently works with the French newspaper Liberation. He directed and adapted the screenplay for the film Musica per vecchi animali (1989), has written for the theatre and developed and starred in numerous performances with various jazz and classical musicians. He is the creator of Pluriversità dell’Imaginazione. He is the author of several successful novels translated into thirty countries. Laurence Strangio

is a Melbourne-based independent theatre director of Aeolian heritage. He recently directed and co translated La Medea/Lo Stupro by Franca Rame & Dario Fo at La Mama Courthouse featuring Margherita Peluso (“La Medea conquers the stage”, Il Globo March 10, 2014). He is well known for his productions of classics such as Brecht’s The Good Person of Szechwan, Beckett’s ... waiting for Godot and Pirandello’s Six characters in search of an author... (all at La Mama) as well as his acclaimed solo adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s alias Grace (La Mama, Malthouse and national & overseas tours). Other recent productions include Chekhov’s UncleVanya and Barry Dickins’ A Kind of Fabulous Hatred (both at fortyfivedownstairs). Laurence has received two Green Room Awards for Outstanding Direction (Portrait of [Dora] and Six characters in search of an author).

Margherita Peluso

is an Italian bilingual performer born in Milan of Sicilian heritage. A graduate of the International Lecoq School of Kuniaki Ida, she also studied in Palermo with Emma Dante and with Mamadou Dioum of the Peter Brook ensemble. In Los Angeles she spent time at the Gloria Gifford Conservatory where she featured as ‘Serafina’ in The Rose Tattoo. She arrived in Australia in 2012 and performed in Luigi Pirandello’s Cap and Bells [Beretto a sonagli] at La Mama Courthouse and The Restoration of Adelaide Ristori (La Mama Explorations, directed by Laurence Strangio). In 2013 she featured in La Morsa/Cecé for Commeartefò (directed by Mimmo Mangione) as well as regular appearances with the Lloyd Jones ensemble and Commedia dell’Arte presentations with Rosa Campagnaro’s ‘Make a Scene’. She has appeared on Italian television in BSI and Mia moglia a letto con il mio amico for RAI Due Milan and film in Un amore di strega directed by Angelo Longoni (Mediaset Canale 5) as well as numerous short films here in Melbourne over the past two years Email: [email protected]
