How Criterion Works?
• As an instructional and assessment tool based on technology
derived from ETS research on Natural Language Processing.
• The patented e-rater® scoring engine was developed at ETS to
provide both annotated diagnostic feedback and holistic scoring
based on level-specific models built from essays pre-scored by
ETS-trained readers.
• When compared with a human scorer, the e-rater ® scoring
engine generally provides holistic scores that are more than 92%
in agreement with human scores.
