The Executive Board of Radboud university medical center (Radboudumc) has awarded the Valkhof Chair 2014 to Professor Anna Moore. You are warmly invited to the
o�cial gathering organized to mark this very special occasion on 11 September 2014.
Professor Anna Moore is head of the Molecular Imaging Laboratory at the Department of Radiology of Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston MA, USA. She is also
a Member of the A�liated Faculty of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences
and Technology.
After completing an MSc in Chemistry, Moore obtained a PhD in bio-organic
chemistry at the Academy of Sciences in Moscow, Russia. In 1990, she continued
her scienti�c career in the USA, where she started working at the Harvard Medical
School and Massachusetts General Hospital in 1992. Her work encompasses all
relevant areas of biomedical imaging, from magnetic resonance imaging and optimal imaging to radio tracer imaging. In particular, she focuses on insulin-producing
beta-cells, metastasizing diseases and neurodegenerative disorder. Professor Moore
has built up a reputation in the world of beta-cell imaging for her pioneering work
on revealing immune processes in the pancreas. Her work has been published in
numerous high-impact scienti�c journals. She has acquired more than 17 million
American dollars worth of funding, and received several prestigious prizes.
The Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine will o�cially host Professor
Anna Moore during her visit to Radboudumc.

De Raad van Bestuur van het Radboudumc heeft de Valkho�eerstoel 2014 toegekend
aan professor Anna Moore. Bij dezen nodigen wij u van harte uit voor de o�ciële
bijeenkomst die op 11 september 2014 gehouden zal worden ter ere van deze belangrijke gebeurtenis.
The chair is named after the Valkhof (Falcon Court) in the centre of Nijmegen, the oldest city in the
Netherlands. The Valkhof is a historic place, which was used as a cemetery in prehistory. The Romans
had a forti�ed settlement on the spot. The Frankish emperor Charlemagne (714-814) held residence at
the Valkhof. Also Frederick Barbarossa (1122-1190) was known to use the castle Valkhof. The remains of
the castle are still present.

De leerstoel is vernoemd naar het Valkhof in het centrum van Nijmegen, de oudste stad van Nederland.
Het Valkhof is een historische plaats die in het verre verleden dienst deed als begraafplaats en waar
de Romeinen een vesting bouwden. Karel de Grote (714-814) verbleef geregeld op het Valkhof en ook
Frederick Barbarossa (1122-1190) had er een kasteel. De overblijfselen van dit kasteel zijn nog altijd
aanwezig.
