In 2010, my 1999 Stat Med paper (Van Buuren S, et al. (1999). Stat Med, 18, 681-‐694) was ranked number 20 of most influential statistical papers among 11,000 articles appearing in the top statistical journals during the years 1985-‐2002. See MJ Schell (2010), Identifying Key Statistical Papers From 1985 to 2002 Using Citation Data for Applied Biostatisticians, The American Statistician, 64(4), 310-‐317. The “chained equations” or “fully conditional specification” algorithm for missing data imputation was implemented by all major statistical vendors (SAS, SPSS, Stata). The MICE package has become the most popular package among R users for generating multiple imputations.
