The discussion will continue in LACNIC VI . • The resolution in the proposal for a new policy in Lame Delegation was postponed for LACNIC VI. • The proposal for Global Policy “IANA to RIR Allocation of IPv4 Address Space” was approved and it has been already ratified by the LACNIC’s Board. •Follow up the Policy Development Process in http://lacnic.net/en/des-pol.html •235 subscriptions to [email protected]. 65 new during 2003. At least 20 out of 29 economies of LACNIC regions are present in this list. APNIC 17 – February, 2004 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia LACNIC POLICY’S UPDATE 2003 1. 2. New Policy in “Internet Resources Experimental Allocation”. Changes in the “IPv6 Policy for LACNIC Region”. - 3 New Requirements for initial allocations. c. Document a detailed plan for the services and IPv6 connectivity to be offered to other organizations (clients). d. Announce a single block in the Internet inter-domain routing system, aggregating the total IPv6 address allocation received, within a period not longer than 12 months. e. Offer IPv6 services to clients physically located within the region covered by LACNIC within a period not longer than 24 months. - 2 previous requirements were deleted. c. Plan to provide IPv6 connectivity to organizations to which it will assign /48s, by advertising that connectivity through its single aggregated address allocation; and d. Have a plan for making at least 200 /48 assignments to other organizations within two years. APNIC 17 – February, 2004 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia FRIDA PROJECT - Competitive Funds for supporting researches, through Small Grants, in areas of interest for the LACNIC’s community. - Participants: -LACNIC, IDRC (Canada), Institute for Connectivity of the Americas – ICA (Canada), ISOC (Internet Society) - Initially: U$S 500.000 for 2004 and 2005. - Call for proposals next March. - Important Initiative to promote the Internet Development in the region. APNIC 17 – February, 2004 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia GENERAL INFORMATION - 2 New Board Members elected last November. -Oscar Robles – México -Jesús Martínez – Cuba. - Raimundo Beca re-elected for 3 years to the AC. - Year 2003 Fiscal closed with very good results. - The incomes were more than projected and outcomes meant 92 % of the budget. Reserves equivalent to 40 % of the budget of 2004. - The Auditors finished the Audit with favorable opinion. - The Internal Control Organ issued also its favorable opinion in relation with the financial statements and all the management of LACNIC. - Annual Report 2003 will be issued before the end of February. - Next Annual Members meeting will be held during LACNIC VI in Montevideo.
