HEBREWS HEBREWS “The writer . . . encourages them with the assurance that they have everything to lose if they fall back, but everything to gain if they press on.” –F.F. Bruce HEBREWS Message of Hebrews: Continue following the superior Savior, Jesus Christ. A More Desirable Faithfulness A More Desirable Faithfulness Since our Deliverer is superior . . . Hebrews 3:1-6 (NET Bible) 1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess, 2 who is faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses was also in God’s house. 3 For he has come to deserve greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house deserves greater honor than the house itself! Hebrews 3:1-6 (NET Bible) 4 For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that would be spoken. 6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. We are of his house, if in fact we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope we take pride in. For they were all drinking from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ. 5 But God was not pleased with most of them, for they were cut down in the wilderness. 1 Corinthians 10:1-11 (NET Bible) 6 These things happened as examples for us, so that we will not crave evil things as they did. 7 So do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” 8 And let us not be immoral, as some of them were, and twenty-three thousand died in a single day. 9 And let us not put Christ to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by snakes. 1 Corinthians 10:1-11 (NET Bible) 10 And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel. 11 These things happened to them as examples and were written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come.
