2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T
• The Dodge Charger was reintroduced for 2006 with a limited production
Dodge Charger Daytona package that included a sportier interior,
classic high impact exterior colors, a rear spoiler, a front chin spoiler, a
blacked out grille surround, rear quarter panel striping reading
"DAYTONA" on either side, a blackout decal between the taillights on the
decklid, and a blackout on the hood with the word "HEMI" cut out twice.
Heritage R/T badges replaced the Stock R/T's chrome badges. A
performance suspension with load-leveling rear shocks was also
standard, as well as unique wheels. 2006 wheels were the stock R/T 18"
wheels with charcoal grey painted pockets, and lower profile wider tires.
2007 to 2009 wheels are 20" chrome clad wheels. In 2008, the rear
quarter panel stripes were removed, and replaced with a strobe stripe on
the lower portions of the doors that reads "DAYTONA" towards the front
of the stripe. The hood decal was also modified. The 2006-2008 Daytona
gains 10 hp (7 kW) over the standard Charger R/T via engine
management tuning, and a larger stock air cleaner. A unique single-pass
muffler was also standard. The 2009 features the new Variable Camshaft
Timing HEMI, producing 368 hp (274 kW). (KW means kilowatts)

Let's get to the HEMI -- Charger is after all just a big HEMI-delivery system. What is
the HEMI? It's 5.7 liters, eight cylinders arranged in a "V," 350 hp, 390 lb-ft of torque
-- gasp, gasp. (And yes, purists, like the HEMI of the 60s, it has hemispherical
combustion chambers.) Dodge's Multi-Displacement System allows the HEMI to
shut down 4 of the 8 cylinders in low-demand situations, like cruising down the
highway, to save fuel. It's seamless. You'll never notice the difference, except at the
pump.
The 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will feature a five-speed automatic
transmission with AutoStick® and a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine that offers an
estimated 350 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque -- ten more horses than the
previous 5.7-liter HEMI -- for even more power in this modern rear-wheel-drive
muscle car.
Chrysler Group engineers developed uniquely tuned intake and exhaust systems to
unleash some of the HEMI engine's untapped power for the Dodge Charger Daytona
R/T. By using a less restrictive intake system and moving to a straight-through
muffler from a three-pass muffler, the newly tuned 5.7-liter HEMI gets a 10horsepower boost and a throaty, high-performance tone to match.
The HEMI engine's Multi-displacement System (MDS) provides up to 20 percent
improved fuel economy, giving Dodge Charger customers the legendary HEMI power
they want with fuel economy they will appreciate.

Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Interior
• The interior of the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T
features sport front seats with suede inserts and
embroidered "Daytona" logos on the front
headrests. Body-color accent stitching will
appear on the front and rear seats and on the
leather-wrapped steering wheel. Matching
body-colored center stack bezel, a "Daytona
Limited Edition" display on the electronic
cluster and a sequentially numbered limitededition Daytona badge on the instrument panel
will complete the unique Dodge Charger
Daytona R/T interior.
Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Exterior
• The 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T can be
identified from its more common siblings by a
unique front bumper with chin spoiler and black
honeycomb grille, matt black 'Daytona' and
'HEMI' stickers, R/T badges and a black rear
decklid spoiler. The Daytona model also will
include large, bright, dual-exhaust tips and 18inch polished wheels with low-gloss, jet-black
painted pockets. The powerful HEMI engine will
feature a HEMI-orange engine cover.
• Exterior colors for the Dodge Charger Daytona
R/T include the imaginatively named 'Go
Mango!' Orange and 'Top Banana' Yellow.
Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Suspension
• Has a performance suspension with load-leveling rear
shocks. That was also standard with the regular Dodge
Charger.
• The Dodge Charger's short-and Long-arm (SLA)
multilink front suspension allowed for tuning of both
bushing compliances (to cut road noise) and vehicle
dynamic handling performance. The five-link
independent rear suspension allows independent
tuning of handling and ride comfort so that each can be
maximized.
• All rear suspension components, except coil springs and
shock absorbers, mount on a steel cradle that attaches
to the body structure through four large rubber mounts
that effectively isolate the passenger compartment
from road and axle noise.
Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Brakes
• All versions of the 2006 Dodge Charger are equipped
with standard world-class ride and handling features,
including Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Brake
Assist, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and all-speed
Traction Control System (TCS).
• The Charger’s ABS keeps the car straight and retains
steering capability when braking on slippery surfaces by
preventing wheel lock-up.
• Combined, ESP with Brake Assist, ABS and TCS improve
the Dodge Charger’s traction, maneuverability and
stability in all weather conditions.
Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Gauges
• The instrument panel is not unattractive, but it is
interesting in that the pods are deep and straight,
not oriented towards the driver, so that parts of the
outlying gauges are cut off from sight, especially if
your head is anywhere near the roof.
• The black on white gauges remain that way at night,
when a perfectly even white backlight comes into
play; they are highly visible day or night.
• The gauge numbers are sensibly large. The 160 mph
speedometer means that the range most often used
(0-80) occupies about 1/3 of the dial, but keeping to
any given speed was still easy.
