A mobile application for BART users
The smart way to
get from
to
Problem:
This application addresses the problems BART
riders currently face using the BART system,
namely, waiting in line for tickets and getting
information about trains and schedules.
Solution:
Our mobile SmartBART application allows
tickets to be ordered on the smart phone via the
internet; a wireless reader at the Bart station will
then be able to detect the ticket on the phone.
In order for riders to know where trains are at any
moment, the application will allow users to view
train status in real-time. Additionally, the program
has all of the capabilities of the online quick
planner, i.e. directions, station maps, and train
schedules
Target User Group:
All BART riders, with a large percentage made up
of daily commuters
Final Interface Design
The SmartBART interface
provides users with the following
capabilities:
•Purchase tickets directly on
their phones using a credit card.
Money can be added at any
time to their account.
•Save information about
frequently used routes under
Favorite Trips section.
•Look up real time status for
trains. This provides a list of trains
for the entered time. Alerts user
if a train is running late.
