51.“Have you understood all these
things?”
“Yes,” they told Him.
52. “Therefore,” He said to them, “every
student of Scripture instructed in the
kingdom of heaven is like a
landowner who brings out of his
storeroom what is new and what is
old.”
Scribes

instructed in the kingdom of heaven”
• Literally & most translations: Scribe
• Warren Wiersbe: “The scribes began
as a noble group under the leadership
of Ezra. Their purpose was to preserve
the Law, study it, and apply its truths
to daily life. Over the years, their
noble cause degenerated into a
routine task of preserving traditions
and man-made interpretations, and
adding burdens to the lives of the
people”
• Jesus is referring to all trained
Christians; they are like Scribes

brings out of his storeroom what
is new and what is old…”

old principles of truth

• Church history did not begin the
day you were saved
– Believers before us have thought
through critical matters of doctrine
.>

brings out of his storeroom what
is new and what is old…”
