The

Oxford DNB

provides over 58,500 biographies of anyone who was anyone in British history, from the Romans to the 21st century. From film stars to physicists, landed gentry to local heroes, and murderers to millionaires, all human life is here.

Search for a person by typing their name into the Quick Search box at the top right, or in the centre of the homepage.

Notice that you can now extend the search to other Oxford University Press online resources by using the Oxford Index underbar.

This is the search results page. You can reorder your results to what is most helpful for you and also narrow down your search results with some filters.

Results will automatically find you people as a default, however you can also see what themes they may be included in.

Once you have found the entry you are interested in, you can print and email it, or you can easily copy and paste the citation for your work.

If there are any themed content around your subject interest it will appear in the left hand column.

Also check the left hand column to see if there are any other resources available on your subject of interest.
