groups – based on your department.
Each group will be placed under one
advisor i.e. industrial training
committee member.

training is to expose students to
the various aspects of industrial
practices and ethics.
What you should have

Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons.) 3 years
program AND Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons.) 3
years program - sixty (60) or more credit hours.
You cannot take

STEP 1: VERIFICATION LETTER (VL)
How to print the VL?
You can go to the Industrial Training System (ITS) and print it
from there – provided that you have put Industrial Training in
your study plan

STEP 2: PLACEMENT

Students need to apply for the placement on
their own.
The place chosen should give some exposure
on the field of his/her major. Student MUST
check the company profile and activities
before applying.
A list of companies from previous I.T. will be
posted on the notice board, published in the
I.T website and I.T. blog

STEP 2: PLACEMENT
What do you need?
An application letter
Ensure that coordinator’s name is included
Resume
Personal Particulars, Educational Background,
Achievements, Working Experience - if relevant,
Activities and Hobbies, Career Ambition
Verification Letter
STEP 2: PLACEMENT
If student hold any scholarship, he/she is required
• to consult with his/her sponsor for approved placement of
industrial training
• to find out if industrial training placement is provided
Having the industrial training overseas are NOT ENCOURAGED.
(MUST FULFILL EXTRA CONDITION!)
A different documents are required for those who do their
training overseas. Please liaise with I.T. Advisor.
STEP 2: PLACEMENT - interview
Some organizations may call for an interview
Students must be properly dressed for the interview.
Be prepared with some background information of the
company
Make use of your interpersonal skills, knowledge and
experiences

STEP 3: WAITING FOR THE OFFER
LETTER
Students are advised to check with
COIT’s admin office for the
offer/rejection letters from
companies from time to time.
Include both, COIT address and
your home address for the purpose
of receiving your placement letter
Students are allowed to collect
ONLY their own letters. A student
ID card must be produced when
collecting the letters.

STEP 4: REGISTRATION
•
Don’t forget to do a pre-registration
for the subject for Special Semester
2012/2013 on 24th November 2012.
As of now, there will be no final registration session.
SO… MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER DURING THE PREREGISTRATION SESSION.
STEP 5: FINAL PLACEMENT
CONFIRMATION – FORM B
Confirmation of placement must be made latest by 1st February
2013 (Final Placement Confirmation)
• WHAT TO DO?
• Submit Offer Letter and Form B (manually, either hard
copy or soft copy to your I.T. Advisor)
• Enter information to ITS (Company Details)

made after you have

STEP 6: REPORT DUTY – FORM C

Second confirmation of placement
must be submitted by 8th February
2013 (Report of Duty Notification).

Any student who changes company
without notifying the college will get FAIL
grade
STEP 7 : INTERNSHIP
•
During the training, the students conduct must be in
accordance with the organization working schemes, rules
and regulations.
•
•
•
•
Any valid complaints that IT committee received may result in you
failing the subject
Have you any problem or question, you can contact the
industrial training coordinator or any of the Industrial Training
Committee members.
You need to have a logbook to record your daily activity.
You will be assigned a visiting supervisor (usually it is not your
IT Advisor). He / She will contact you by week 6 to schedule a
visit.
STEP 7 : INTERNSHIP - FORM D1
by Visiting Supervisor
 Please give the Form D1 to your visiting supervisor for the
evaluation of your industrial training program (presentation,
company, environment, task, etc).
STEP 7 : INTERNSHIP - FORM D2
by Host Supervisor
 Please give the Form D2 to your host supervisor for the
evaluation of your industrial training program as well as your
presentation. It must be signed and stamped with the
company stamp.
STEP 7 : INTERNSHIP - FORM E by
Student
 You need to fill in Form E for the evaluation of your
industrial training program (company, environment, task, etc).
STEP 7 : INTERNSHIP - presentation

During the visiting lecture’s visit, students are required to
perform industrial training’s oral presentation which will be
assessed by the visiting lecturer and host supervisor and/or
representative from the company.
STEP 8 : SUBMISSIONS

The students are required to submit

Due date: Two (2) weeks after your
Industrial Training ends.
If you want to extend your Industrial Training period, please be informed
that UNITEN will not be responsible for the extension period (in terms
of insurance etc)

24th November 2012: : Semester 1 Pre-registration.
21st January – 1st February 2013: Fill in details of Form B (Final
Placement Confirmation) through Online - ITS.
4th February 2013: : Industrial Training commences.
8th February2013: Submission of Form C (Report of Duty
Notification), online and manual.

If you decline an offer for I.T., write a letter to the company.
Once you have accept an offer or report for duty , you cannot
change company.
If absent e.g. sick etc., please inform your host supervisor
early
If you need to extend your training period, please inform your
visiting lecturer and the I.T coordinator.
Please submit to COIT the necessary forms so that
arrangements could be made for your lecturers’ visits
Make sure you have register for Industrial Training
For those who do their training overseas, you have to be
back before the examination starts to do your presentation.
Please book your tickets early.

Those who are failed are required to repeat the
training (like other subjects).
