CHECKING YOUR FINANCIAL STATUS Early Childhood STEP 1: I have applied for Financial Aid via www.fafsa.ed.gov • Please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and apply for the 2013-2014 FAFSA application. • Follow the "Apply for Pin" link to access Pin Site at Department of Education PIN (www.pin.ed.gov ). Please print a copy for your records. • CPCC Federal school code is 002915 STEP 2: Received and reviewed my Financial Aid Document Tracking Letter. • Wait ten business days from submitting your FAFSA application and check your CPCC email account for your "Document Tracking Email" from the Financial Aid. Office. • If no email has been received beyond the tenth business day, contact the Dept. of Ed. to make sure your application was submitted 1.800.433.3243 • If your Document Tracking Email is not clear, you can view “Need to Submit” documents by logging into your MyCollege Account. Look under the "Communication Section" view "My Documents”. Step 3: If my Document Tracking Email says that I have been selected for Verification, what does that mean? • If you are an Independent Student: View "My Documents" under the "Communication" section under your MyCollege account. Write down what you are missing. Still logged into MyCollege go to the "Financial Aid" section and click "Financial Aid Forms". Complete and Submit the forms you are missing. You should get a confirmation page once submitted. • If you are a Dependent Student: View "My Documents" under the "Communication" section under your MyCollege account. Write down what you are missing. Open a new internet window and go to the Financial Aid website: http://www.cpcc.edu/financial_aid/fyi/2 013-2014-form . • Print, Complete, Sign, and Fax missing documents to 704.330.5053. Please include Cover Letter with student ID number listed. • Step 4: I've submitted requested documents, but I am still getting emails saying I am missing paperwork or when I look under "My Documents" it still states that I need to submit something. Once you have submitted forms, allow 7-10 business days for processing. If documentation is submitted during peak registration months (May - August) an additional five business days maybe needed. • Once your file has being processed, you can locate your status in your My College account. All items will be marked either Received and Pending Corrections. • A new email will be sent for any additional missing or incomplete documents. • Once your file is completed, a “Financial Aid Award Notification” email will be sent to your CPCC email account. To view amounts of your award go to your MyCollege account, "Financial Aid " section and "Financial Aid Award Letter” 2013-2014 academic Year". • Register for course(s) if you have not already done so. Step 5: I have been awarded, what do I do next? • Go to Admissions and get your Student ID card or updated term sticker. • View the Financial Aid Purchasing Books webpage: http://www.cpcc.edu/financial_aid/f yi/purchasing-books-1 to find out the dates you can charge your books toward your financial aid. • This is normally one week before the term starts through one week after the term starts. • In addition to dates being posted on website, signs are posted around campus as well. Optional Step 6: If I am interested in student Loans, How do I apply? • Read the Loan information page, there you will find the steps on how to apply: http://www.cpcc.edu/financial_aid/assistan ce/loans • Loan awards will be placed on your account generally in about 7-10 business days after you have completed all required steps. During Peak registration months (May-August) that may take an additional five business days.
