to help decision makers to monitor
development indicators at national
and sub-national level, to analyze
trends as well as to orient decision.

The Syria MDG Monitoring Database
will be established from indicators
extracted from official and reliable
data sources .
Indicators will be entered into the
database at National, governorate,
district, and further level whenever
available.

Two training courses were conducted
by CSF expert .

ChildInfo focal points from
governorates, and concerned

The CIU report was issued and
disseminated to concerned parties .
UNICEF was following up with CBS
on all stages. No problems were
faced, and the work in CIU went

Objectives of MOu:



Produce a Syria Specific database of
indicators related to MDGs, and make it
available to institutions and organizations
involved in development work in Syria.
Set-up a system for the periodic and
regular update of this database that
involves all concerned institutions and
organizations.
Provide a tool for easy reporting on MDGs.11

Creating beta version of database
with Syrian MDG indicators which is
based on census and other surveys.

Preparing the indicators to be used in
the final version of Syrian Devinfo
database using all available data
such as :




Population and Housing census.
Other surveys (Mics, Hies, LaborForce …).
Regular statistics from related
ministries.
Preparing digital maps for all
geographic levels which had been
started actually since Oct. 2005.
